Module Description:
This module is a modern, refined take on the classic 1973 Serge Dual Processor (PRC), originally created by Serge Tcherepnin. As described in the original SMMS catalog:
“The Dual Processor (PRC) consists of two independent circuits for adding and inverting control voltages. It provides full control over the level and polarity of three input voltages, along with a manually adjustable offset that can be added to the mix.”
In this updated version, a compression/saturation circuit has been added to the bottom processor, introducing rich, nonlinear shaping—from subtle soft-clipping to pronounced wave distortion. This enhancement significantly broadens the module's utility, making it equally powerful for control voltage (CV) processing and creative audio manipulation. The entire circuit is DC-coupled, ensuring reliable performance across a wide range of modular applications.
Features:
Top Processor:
– Switchable ±5V offset on outputBottom Processor:
– ±5V offset
– Compression/Saturation switch for additional wave shapingEach Processor Includes:
– Three attenuated inputs, each with on/off/invert toggle switches
From the original SMMS Catalog:
”The DUAL PROCESSOR (PRC) is two independent circuits for adding and inverting control voltages. Full processing control of level and polarity of three inputs voltages Is provided. A manual offset voltage can be set to be added to the other three inputs.”
Serge Modular Ecosystem Compatibility
Modern Serge-style 4U systems use two primary mounting standards: Loudest Warning–style and Random*Source–style.
Low-gain Electronics modules follow the Loudest Warning–style mounting format (unless stated otherwise) and are electrically
compatible with all Serge-style systems, though mounting (panels) and power adapters may be required for some installations.
